Private view: Ain Dubai

Go behind the scenes at Dubai's newest attraction, Ain Dubai, which offers incredible views over the emirate.

Dubai’s landscape has transformed significantly since the city won the right to host the World Expo in 2013. In the lead up to the event, the emirate launched several new attractions, and residents and visitors have witnessed the city pulling out all the stops to amaze guests with new hotspots that promise to entertain and enthrall.

One new landmark that truly stands out is Ain Dubai, which translates to Dubai Eye in Arabic. The hotly anticipated giant observation wheel joined a long list of the city’s record-breaking attractions when it opened to the public in October last year.

Located on Bluewaters Island, Ain Dubai stands at a height of 250 metres (nearly twice the height of the London Eye), which makes it the highest and largest of its kind in the world.

A remarkable feat of construction, each leg of the wheel stands at a height of 126 metres, which is long enough to fit 15 London buses. Meanwhile, the weight of the assembled hub and spindle is equivalent to that of four A380 aircraft.

Nestled across the water from JBR, Ain Dubai offers 360-degree views of the emirate’s iconic skyline. During the 38-minute ride in one of its 48 air-conditioned cabins, which can accommodate a total of 1,750 passengers per revolution, visitors can view the magnificent skyscrapers along Dubai Marina as well as famous landmarks, such as Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah.

A completely different perspective of the city is offered during the day and at night, inviting visitors back to experience this new attraction. Golden hour is especially popular, with the colours of the sunset bathing the city in a soft, warm glow.

There are three different pod experiences at Ain Dubai: observation cabins, social cabins and private cabins. From the observation cabins, visitors can enjoy the journey with unbeatable views and plenty of photo opportunities. The social cabins grant access to Ain Dubai’s Seaview Lounge, where guests can indulge in delicious dining. And for something a little more luxurious, visitors can book one of many VIP pods that offer the ideal backdrop to host dining experiences and bespoke events.
