Rotana announces robust expansion plans at ATM 2023

The leading hospitality group showcases its expansion plans with 50 hotels in the pipeline and 11,000 keys across the MENAT region

At this year's Arabian Travel Market, which took place from May 1 to May 4, 2023 at Dubai World Trade Centre, Rotana announced its ambitious expansion plans, aiming to reach 120 operating hotels spanning across 28,000 keys by 2030.

In parallel to ATM’s 30 years, Rotana is also celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2023 and proudly showcasing its world-class offerings across its six superlative brands at this year’s exhibition. Spearheading a strong pipeline of 50 hotels in the MENAT region, Rotana continues to cement its position as one of the leading hospitality brands, leveraging the buoyant travel and tourism industry in the region.

Speaking about the expansion plans, Guy Hutchinson, President & CEO of Rotana, said: “The hospitality industry has seen tremendous results in the last year and we are positive the momentum will continue building in the region. Leveraging our keen understanding of the market, we remain committed to continue expanding our footprint and providing our guests with the highest levels of comfort, luxury, and personalised service that Rotana is known for. We will continue delivering our brand promise of Treasured Times across the world.”

Saudi Arabia presents one of the fastest-growing markets in the region, increasingly establishing itself as a leading business and leisure hub. To respond to the growing demand, Rotana plans on developing seven new hotels in Saudi Arabia, including five new properties in Riyadh and one in Al Baha, under the Edge by Rotana brand, adding triple the number of rooms it currently runs in the Kingdom to 6,000 over the next four years.

"These new properties will be located in the cities of Riyadh, Medinah and Al Baha and will include a mix of hotels and serviced apartments, catering to diverse customer demand," said Makram El Zyr, Corporate Vice President Development of Rotana.

In Egypt, the group is gearing up for the much-anticipated luxury resort Luxor Rotana opening in 2025 as well as five new hotels in the pipeline across Cairo and the North Coast. Opening its doors in 2025, Luxor Rotana is ideal for the discerning leisure traveller, providing guests with the ultimate luxury and comfort across its 319 spacious rooms and suites, a wide selection of food and beverage options, and recreation facilities. In Cairo, Rotana is working on the opening of White Palace Rotana Resort, situated in the heart of the city and overlooking the ancient pyramids. The five-star resort will offer 353 rooms and suites, diverse dining options including two speciality restaurants, state-of-the-art facilities, and 11 meeting rooms.

"As we move forward with our expansion plans, we actively strive to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability across our operations. We look forward to further solidifying our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and discussing practical and ambitious solutions with our partners, in line with the UAE Net Zero vision 2050," concluded Hutchinson.

Launched at ATM 2022, Edge by Rotana has seen tremendous development and is on track to reach its target of operating 30 Edge by Rotana properties across the region by 2027. Rotana has, to date, successfully opened three Edge by Rotana-managed hotels in the UAE – Arabian Park and Park Apartments in November 2022 and Damac Hills 2 in February 2023.
