UFC Fight Night

Sarajevo Film Festival

🗓 August 16 - 23, 2024 📍 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Since its inaugural edition in 1995 at the Bosnian Cultural Centre, where 37 films from 15 countries were showcased, the Sarajevo Film Festival has risen to become one of the largest international film festivals in Europe. Now in its 30th year, the event continues to spotlight movies, talent and future projects from the region, attracting renowned filmmakers and industry professionals.

Held annually every August, the programme includes screenings of feature films, short films and documentaries along with unique events and panel discussions. Last year, U2 frontman Bono made a surprise appearance at the event's opening ceremony and performed with bandmate David Evans (better known as Edge), following the screening of Kiss of the Future, a documentary that chronicles the band's special relationship with Sarajevo in the 1990s.

Burning Man

Every year towards the end of summer, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City – a temporary metropolis dedicated to art, self-expression and creativity. This year's theme 'Burning Man 2024: Curiouser & Curiouser' celebrates puzzles without answers, embraces the irrational and absurd, and honours those moments of not knowing when humans are entirely consumed by curiosity, experiencing their most profound learning, growth and creativity.

Burning Man provides a platform for a wide range of creative installations and personal projects, from theatre performances and concerts to yoga classes, art exhibitions, music, DJ sets and more. The festivities culminate with an enormous bonfire where a massive effigy is burned, giving the event its name.

Khareef Dhofar

During July and August, rain clouds from the Indian subcontinent pour down on Salalah, breathing new life into Oman's Dhofar province and transforming it into a verdant paradise. Known as the khareef or monsoon season, it attracts visitors from across the region to experience nature at its finest.

This year, Dhofar has extended the seasonal celebrations to three months, instead of just 45 days. The festivities begin with the astronomical start of the khareef season on June 21 and continue until September 20. An array of activities, including art exhibitions, live music performances, traditional markets and cultural shows, will take place throughout the season, embodying the rich heritage of Oman.

Dubai Sports World
